The summer school “Culture of Remembrance in contemporary Europe” begins today on the island of Rab.
During the week, until Sunday 03 July 2016, historians, curators, activists and artists from Poland, Germany, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Italy, Slovenia and Croatia will problematize the challenges, possibilities and ranges of memory practices in different national contexts.
Through presentations, workshops, study visits to local places of remembrance on the island of Rab and Goli Otok, the volunteers (participants of the international volunteer camp Landscape of Remembrance), professionals and interested citizens will have the opportunity to reflect on the dialogue on the state of memory culture in the context of Croatia, the post-Yugoslav region and Europe.
The summer school and volunteer camp “Landscape of Remembrance” are part of the activities on the project “Faces of Resistance and Opposition repression in Europe in the 20th century”, which is financially supported by the European Commission in the frame of the European Remembrance strand of the Europe for Citizens programme.
The summer school program in Croatian and English is attached.
