The project supports dealing with the consequences of trauma resulting from the destruction of cultural heritage in societies affected by war. On this Creative Europe project we are collaborating with the organizations BLOCKFREI (Austria), the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Apoteka – Space for Contemporary Art (Croatia) and STAN (Ukraine). The project team wants to promote art as a tool for recovery and resilience, on an individual and social level. Through the project activities, artists, young people, human rights activists and the general public will interpret trauma in its political, social and cultural aspects.
In the frame of the project, Documenta and the partner organizations will organize art exhibitions in all participating countries, two study tours to sites of trauma followed by two multidisciplinary student exhibitions, screenings and open discussions that address the consequences of war and support dealing with the past, peacebuilding workshops, transnational exchange of experiences through encounters between artists and witnesses of the time and local audiences, and two artistic residencies accompanied by various workshops for young people.
The project is co-financed by the European Union.
