ReMEMBER Europe is a project dedicated to fostering European remembrance by commemorating and preserving the memory of two significant massacres, in Chortiatis, Greece and Rakov Potok, Croatia. With a focus on historical understanding, empathy, and dialogue.ReMEMBER aims to engage diverse audiences in reflecting upon these tragic events and their broader implications. Three organizations from Greece, Croatia and France, through seminars, guided tours, art workshops, artistic interventions and digital tools and replicable methodologies, seek to engage participants in the historical context and significance of the massacres examined, and to show them new ways of remembering and using digital technology to transfer testimonies to the future. The project objectives include sensitizing and educating the public about the historical events, amplifying the voices and perspectives of those affected, and stimulating dialogue and critical reflection. ReMEMBER promotes reconciliation and a sense of shared responsibility among communities by providing spaces for collective remembrance and empathy. The project encourages active citizenship and aims to inspire positive change by raising awareness of human rights and fostering a commitment to preventing future similar tragedies. Through public engagement and interactive activities, the project seeks to create a lasting impact, ensuring that the stories and lessons of the past are documented, preserved, and shared throughout Europe. ReMEMBER is a comprehensive project that intertwines education, artistic expression, and public engagement to commemorate massacres, foster European remembrance, and inspire a commitment to peace, justice, and human rights. By harnessing the power of remembrance, it strives to create an echo that reverberates through time, ensuring that the voices of the victims are never forgotten.
