The goal of the project "Role of victim" is to show and to raise awareness of all the victims in the project implementation region - with the special focus on those victims of the Holocaust and crimes committed by authoritarian and totalitarian regimes who are forbidden and forgotten. In Croatia it will focus on the memory of Croatian antifascism and fate of Jews, Serbs, Roma, Croats, Slovenes and other inmates of Fascist Concentration Camps, previously on territory controlled by Fascist Italy and nowadays on territory of Croatia, Slovenia and Italy.
The project aims at engagement of the younger population, i.e. high school and university students (18-26), in research, education and dissemination activities. The project logic rests on the presumption that when given appropriate tools by the experts through regional schools of democracy, motivated students will be willing and able to undertake autonomous research regarding the memory politics and politic of sharing and remembering.
The results of the research will then be used for a pan-European social media campaign aimed at respecting the historical suffering of Europeans who were targeted by totalitarian regimes. Project will be implemented by consortium set up of three national anti-fascistic unions (Croatia – SABHR, Italy- ANPI and Slovenia - ZZBNOB), together with Documenta.
During the project, Documenta developed a research guidelines related to education on the Holocaust and other WWII genocides and crimes, and how to involve young people in research on these issues. The document is available at:
